International Management Behavior
By:Henry W. Lane,Martha Maznevski,Joerg Deetz,Joseph DiStefano
Published on 2009-09-08 by John Wiley & Sons

Now in its sixth edition, International Management Behavior continues to help students develop the knowledge, perspective, and skills they need in order to conduct global business successfully. The combination of well-chosen, new and classic cases, as well as a completely revised text, provides excellent exposure to real-life management issues and a field-tested framework for understanding cross-cultural dynamics. Elimination of the readings has provided for greater flexibility and customization. For the sixth edition, the structure of the book has been totally revised and the text thoroughly updated to Reflect the authors’ recent experiences. Material in the original chapters has been expanded and there are new chapters on managing change in global organizations and one on managing global teams and networks. The concept of the global mindset is used as the integrating theme that establishes a framework for the book making it applicable at both individual/team and organization levels. This book continues its tradition and orientation about managing people from different cultures and managing global organizations to get effective results. “This is much more than a new edition. It is a huge step forward. The strategy and culture chapters get in much closer to the small, focused details that make such a difference in implementation and that are so difficult to teach. Separating out personal integrity and corporate citizenship allows for a close examination of critical issues that are all too often glossed over. The expanded explanation of the MBI model works well.” Jeanne McNett, Assumption College

Open Book Theater Management
By:Rafe Beckley
Published on 2014-09-26 by John Hunt Publishing

In the world of Fringe (or Off-Off Broadway) theatre, a strong debate has been raging for years - when you're producing a low/no-budget production, how on earth can you make it happen and still treat everyone involved in an open, honest and ethical manner? Where do you stand with profit-share productions when you can't afford to pay Union minimums? Open Book Theatre Management, along with its free online resources of instructional budget spreadsheets, is the first book ever to show you exactly how to mount a theatre production without losing either your integrity or your shirt. It is aimed at actors, directors and producers in the early stages of their careers; drama schools; and further and higher education establishments. The methodologies outlined in the book are transferable across all countries in which arts funding is difficult to secure. The time for going to the Establishment with the begging bowl is over. There need be no more excuses. The author will even show you how to start your own theatre company for only a tenner…

Drive
By:Daniel H. Pink
Published on 2011-04-05 by Penguin

Forget everything you thought you knew about how to motivate people—at work, at school, at home. It's wrong. As Daniel H. Pink (author of To Sell Is Human: The Surprising Truth About Motivating Others) explains in his paradigm-shattering book Drive, the secret to high performance and satisfaction in today's world is the deeply human need to direct our own lives, to learn and create new things, and to do better by ourselves and our world. Drawing on four decades of scientific research on human motivation, Pink exposes the mismatch between what science knows and what business does—and how that affects every aspect of our lives. He demonstrates that while the old-fashioned carrot-and-stick approach worked successfully in the 20th century, it's precisely the wrong way to motivate people for today's challenges. In Drive, he reveals the three elements of true motivation: *Autonomy—the desire to direct our own lives *Mastery—the urge to get better and better at something that matters *Purpose—the yearning to do what we do in the service of something larger than ourselves Along the way, he takes us to companies that are enlisting new approaches to motivation and introduces us to the scientists and entrepreneurs who are pointing a bold way forward. Drive is bursting with big ideas—the rare book that will change how you think and transform how you live.

Waste Management
By:Martin F. Lemann
Published on 2008 by Peter Lang

Ever since abandoning the nomadic lifestyle, mankind has been fighting with the disposal problems caused by everyday life's wastes. Today, humans are looking for ecological solutions, which are also economically viable. This book presents the history of this dilemma and the technical solutions available on the market today. The first part provides an overview of the history of mankind and their waste. The tendencies in Europe and the current legislations for Switzerland and Europe are explained. A look beyond the borders of Europe to other continents shows that there the local residents are presently fighting with the same problems as Europe did at the beginning of the 20th century. The second part deals more closely with waste definition, the technical possibilities to recycle waste and the processes to treat non-recyclable waste in a manner, that it can be safely brought back into the environment. The book discusses municipal as well as industrial wastes. Also special areas such as hazardous wastes, sewage sludges, landfill and contaminated site problems or biogenic wastes are highlighted.
