The rumored Nexus S smartphone has finally been officially unveiled. True to the rumors, it is manufactured by Samsung and is based on the Galaxy S smartphone. Fujitsu just got done with their own two-day European forum in Munich called simply “Visit 2010″. At this event Fujitsu basically showed off some new things that the company is currently working on bring to the market for enterprise and regular consumers. However in all the sell-promotion a single tablet was shown off in it’s own private display.

To keep things interesting Fujitsu didn’t give away all the details for the upcoming tablet. However a rep did state that the 10-inch Windows 7 tablet would be coming to market in early 2011, and that’s about all he said. Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion seems determined to have as many applications as possible available for the launch of its newly unveiled BlackBerry PlayBook tablet PC, and the company has just announced plans to unveil more info on what building apps for the tablet PC is all about in a webcast today 

The new “Develop for the BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK for Adobe AIR” webcast is aimed mainly at offering developers the possibility to learn some more info on what installing the SDK and coming up with applications for the slate involve.

“We’ll have both Research In Motion (RIM) and Adobe experts on hand to take you through the process and answer your questions during our Q&A period,” a recent post on the company's blog reads.

According to the blog, Prosanta Bhattacherjee, Application Development Consultant, Research In Motion Limited, and Renaun Erickson, Adobe Developer Evangelist, Adobe Systems Incorporated, will be there to talk about app development for the PlayBook.

At the same time, the blog post notes that this is only the first webcast from five-week series aimed at enabling developers to come up with compelling applications for the new platform.

The plan is to cover new things each and every week, and more advanced topics will be covered as things move forward.

The Canadian mobile phone maker also announced not too long ago that developers who get their PlayBook apps approved for the Blackberry App World before the tablet PC becomes official are eligible for a free BlackBerry PlayBook tablet.

The webcast is aimed both at ramping up the development of applications for the new device, as well as at enabling more developers to benefit from the aforementioned offer.

“Our goal is to make the development process as easy as possible, so you can qualify for the free BlackBerry PlayBook tablet offer,” the said blog post continues.

Sanjay Jha, Motorola co-CEO, said in a statement that the mobile device segment sales have topped $2 billion, which is up 20 percent from last year and have reached profitability for the first time in three years. The sales have lead to 3.8 million Motorola Smartphone shipped, which include both Droid X and Droid 2.Jha said, "Droid X continues to sell extremely well, and we have had several other successful smartphone launches globally, including the Droid 2, the Ming series in China." The Worst Tech Ads of All-Time

Earlier this week, we posted about the super-weird, super-creepy new ad for the Logitech Revue Google TV unit, in which a flat screen TV with a giant eyeball and stubby legs dances angrily for the attention of consumers. It's even more terrifying than it sounds.

The spot is part of a long tradition of creepy, strange, inappropriate, and just generally bad tech commercials. Some are attempts at humor, some are just sort of misguided, and all are worth remembering, if only to avoid repeating the same mistakes.

I polled PCMag staffers to find out which tech ads made their list. And yeah, there are some truly, truly awful spots on here. The list is most likely far from complete however. If you've got any to add (and I know you do), let us know in the comments.

Pricing Leaks for Sony Google TV

Sony and Google TV pricing–for the actual televisions, not just the $300 box. You’ve waited long enough; prices are $1299.99 for the 32-inch NSX-32GT1, $1499.99 for the 40-inch NSX-40GT1 and $1899.99 for the 46-inch NSX-46GT1. There will also be a 24-inch model, and while today’s leak didn’t include a price for that one, an educated guess would put it right around the $1,000 mark.

When compared with other Sonies, the 32-inch Google TV is $300 more expensive than the most expensive, non-3D 32-incher now on the market. Not terrible, but kind of disappointing. With the Logitech set-top priced at $300, I would have thought purchasing Google TV integrated into a television would have been less of a premium, maybe $200. It appears not.

On the plus side, those prices aren’t too out of range. Plus, other manufacturers should be getting into the Google TV racket soon. [via Sony Insider]

Spice Mi-300 Spec full

At first sight the Spice Mi-300 seems like a run-of-the-mill touchscreen phone. Its not cute like the Corby, but rather looks like something a DIYer or a geek would carry.
