The end result is something that looks a lot like Alienware’s M15x gaming computer after some upgrades. The Alienware currently starts at $1199, though the Origin can handle more powerful graphics (Nvidia 280M or 285M instead of 240M or 260M) and has some better gear used in its stock setup. The EON15 only has two processor choices right now, the Intel quad-core Core i7-720QM or the 820QM, there is no option for a lower-end CPU or to go with a top-of-the-line chip.

The $1899 built starts with just 2GB of RAM and a 250GB disk, so some of the components remain quite pedestrian despite Origin not trying to compete for the entry-level buyer. The chassis itself looks quite underwhelming, and pretty far removed from the increasingly customized designs used by some companies. This was also the case with the 18-inch EON18.

If you want to go crazy with the paint job though, Origin has you covered. For $159 you can go from the standard black to your choice of eight different solid or metallic finishes and for $259 you can go with custom art on the lid of your computer (Origin’s or your own).
